SONOMA COUNTY
Hidden Terrace Vineyard, Syrah
The Hidden Terrace Vineyard is a well kept secret sequestered on a steep south-facing slope at the edge of our Mountain Estate, high above the Sonoma Valley floor. Farmed entirely by hand due to the severe incline, this small vineyard is composed of rare tufa (volcanic chalk) soil that produces syrah of intense concentration and varietal distinction. Extremely low yields produced 70 cases of 2004 Hidden Terrace Vineyard Syrah, limiting availability of this release to private collectors directly from the winery.
Tasting Notes
This wine casts a spell the moment it hits the glass. Mesmerizing opaque crimson and violet in color with aromas of sizzling bacon, cracked black pepper, anise and clove. Lollypop material; a concert of fruit flavors ranging from dark plum to cranberry and raspberry sing in perfect harmony with a bass of oak-derived spice and the familiar notes of Northern Rhone cracked pepper and seared pancetta. This is a wine for all of you gourmands looking for the penultimate sensory experience that takes you directly to the heart of a country kitchen and transforms your palate completely.
