SONOMA COUNTY

Hidden Terrace Vineyard, Syrah

The Hidden Terrace Vineyard is a well-kept secret sequestered on a steep south-facing slope at the edge of our Mountain Estate, high above the Sonoma Valley floor. Farmed entirely by hand due to the severe incline, this small vineyard is composed of rare tuff (volcanic ash) soil that produces Syrah of unique varietal distinction.

Tasting Notes

Opaque in color with a purple hue toward the edge of the glass. Aromas of ripe plum, white pepper and sizzling bacon, along with a floral aspect best described as rose petal. The palate boasts flavors of remarkable purity, intensity and balance: dark plum and blackberry mingle with a light white pepper; soy marinated duck layered with firm fine grain tannins that extend a long, juicy, persistent finish. Once opened, patience to savor this bottle over an extended time will be rewarded by extensive development as it opens with air to reveal many layers.
